Avatar - Racist - WTF?!

"Avatar is being criticised by a small but vocal group of people who allege it contains racist themes - the white hero once again saving the primitive natives."

Full story on Stuff...

I saw Avatar and as far as I can tell, Earth's Army invaded a planet with blue indigenous people on it and then the blue indigenous people were saved in the nick of time by a cripple, a nerd, an old lady and a Spanish chick in a helicopter.

FFS, how many minority groups do you need to make a quorum these days?

  1. Haha I love it! It had an undertone of the typical struggles of indigenous people around the world, but I wouldnt say it was racist. I just thought it was an amazing movie in a realm of fantasy with a fictitious storyline! I must say, jakesulley is way hotter as an alien! Fantasy people, fantasy!

  4. Some people need to pull there heads out of there a*** , As far as i see the movie ( 3 times ) it says human nature is to destroy what ever it wants for profit and screw every thing else. Problem is the movie is so true in that point it will bite us in the a** one day . But racist ???

  5. Hmmm... Ever been in a minority group bro? Or studied one? As an indigenous person - one of the indigenous peoples the movie 'borrowed' themes from - it hurt to watch.

    How about "Dances with Smurfs"

  7. I actually thought the movie had strong messages that is was NOT acceptable for people to move in and destroy "indigenous" groups. The whole message was how humans destroy whatever is in their way, in their quest to dominate or possess something they desire .. whether that means wiping out a species or a culture. How could anyone take the movie ... See Moreas racist? It was creating awareness of how cruel humans can be in a pack .. this seems to have escaped the attention of some obviously ...............
